Access and Inclusion

Welcome to the Angaston Show’s Accessibility and Inclusion page!

We understand that everyone’s needs are different, and we’re committed to making the show as enjoyable and accessible as possible for all attendees.

On this page, you’ll find details about accessible parking, restroom facilities, pathways, and inclusive activities designed to enhance your experience.

While our small team may not be on hand on the day to provide one-on-one assistance, we’ve worked hard to ensure The Barossa Council’s facilities and amenities are easy to navigate.

We hope you have a wonderful day at the show and enjoy all it has to offer!

Accessibility and Inclusivity at The Angaston Show

Accessible Entrances and Parking

There are a limited number of accessible parking spaces available on show day within the Angas Recreation Park. These parking spots are located on the top side of the Show Hall. Unfortunately, these spots cannot be pre-booked. All Show patrons that prepurchase a ticket are entitled to free parking on the show grounds. Alternately a car parking ticket can be purchased for $5 upon entry to the grounds via the Washington Street and Park Road main gate on Show Day. To maintain safety and adhere to our risk management rules, general public vehicles are not permitted to drive elsewhere within the Show Grounds on Show Day. For a visual layout of the parking areas and entrance gates, please refer to the Site Map here.

To ensure ease of access, ramps are strategically placed at key locations across the showgrounds, including entrances and exits for the Show Hall, the Angaston Football Clubrooms, and the Football Club Changerooms, which are utilized for our Kids Zone activity space. These ramps provide accessibility for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility aids, or strollers.

Accessible Restrooms and Facilities

Two unisex accessible toilets are available for your convenience. To find the locations, please refer to the Site Map here. The brand-new accessible toilet located within the Angaston Football Clubrooms also includes a baby change table. These facilities are designed to ensure comfort and accessibility for all visitors.

Mobility and Wheelchair Access

The Angaston Showgrounds feature a variety of terrains for attendees to consider. Main pathways consist of compacted white gravel and bitumen roadways, while grassed ovals, picnic areas, and softer dirt cover other sections of the grounds. The parkland itself is not flat but has steady slopes, with the Show Hall located at the highest point of the grounds. Seating options include permanent benches, plastic chairs, and a grandstand (accessible only by stairs). Although dedicated seating is unavailable, we strive to provide ample general seating throughout the showgrounds.

For those using mobility aids or wheelchairs, recharging facilities are available within the air-conditioned Angaston Football Clubrooms. For a closer look at the area and layout, Google Earth can be a helpful tool.

Sensory-Friendly and Quiet Zones

For those in need of a calming space, a dedicated Sensory Quiet Zone will be available. This area will feature a range of sensory-friendly items to create a soothing environment, offering a peaceful retreat for attendees throughout the day. The Sensory Quiet Zone will be located within the Angaston Football Clubrooms. Upon entering the building, follow the signs to find a calm and relaxing space suitable for all ages. The zone includes two quiet, air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with a variety of sensory items designed to soothe and engage. Amenities in the area include ample seating, easy access to ambulant toilets, power points, and a change table. Please note that adult supervision is required at all times. For the exact location, please refer to our Site Map here.

Inclusive Competitions and Activities

Our Inclusive Competitions at the Angaston Show celebrate creativity and offer a welcoming space for participants of all abilities. With categories for both adults and juniors, these competitions allow individuals with visible and invisible additional needs to showcase their talents in a supportive environment. Every participant will receive a personalized certificate with encouraging feedback, along with the opportunity to earn traditional placings of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

As the first country show in our region to introduce this initiative, we take pride in creating a space where everyone’s unique contributions can shine. Our goal is to make each exhibit a memorable and rewarding experience for both participants and spectators. To view the competition categories, please head over to the Show Book page. For guidance, support, and/or encouragement to participate, please contact: Rhiannon on 0419 976 476 or via email at Secretary@angastonshow.org.au

Assistance and Support Services

On show day, our volunteers will be located in the Show Hall Office to answer questions and provide guidance. While our team may have limited capacity to offer one-on-one assistance, they’re happy to help with general inquiries and directions.

Please note that while all dogs are welcome at the show, only registered service dogs are permitted inside indoor spaces. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a comfortable environment for everyone.
